Leandro Bisiach is considered the co-founder of the modern Milanese school of violin making, which had a significant influence on the development of violin making in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Bisiach was born in Casale Monferrato in 1864 and learned woodworking from his father, who was a woodcarver. Leandro Bisiach perfected his skills and soon gained an excellent reputation as a violin maker.
