Giovanni Francesco Pressenda was a renowned 19th-century violin maker who worked in Turin, Italy. He was born in 1777 in Lequio Berria, a town in north-western Italy, and spent most of his life in Turin. Pressenda's violins are characterised by their excellent sound quality and playability. His work influenced Italian violin making in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, Pressenda violins are highly prized and command high prices.
